Everything you need to know about this game subscription service from Electronic Arts.

EA Play is a video game subscription service from publisher Electronic Arts. (Electronic Arts is often called “EA”.) EA is the publisher of many popular video game franchises, including Need for Speed, Plants vs. Zombies, and The Sims, among many others.

Here’s everything you need to know about EA Play.

How does EA Play work?

EA Play gives subscribers unlimited access to games from Electronic Arts, which are available to play on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC.

Subscribers will also receive early access to new games from Electronic Arts, as well as a 10 percent discount on purchases of digital content from EA.

EA Play offers two subscription plans, which offer similar benefits.

The regular EA Play subscription plan costs $4.99 per month or $29.99 per year. This plan gives subscribers unlimited access to every game in EA Play’s “The Play List,” as well as early access to “select new releases” from EA, which they can play for up to 10 hours without making a purchase. If subscribers wish to purchase a full game after this 10-hour trial period, their progress will carry over to the full experience.

Subscribers to the regular EA Play plan will also save 10 percent when they purchase EA digital content.

The EA Play Pro subscription plan costs $14.99 per month or $99.99 per year. This plan gives subscribers unlimited access to every game in EA Play’s “The Pro Play List,” as well as early access to the “deluxe versions” of EA’s new games with no time limits.

Subscribers to the EA Play Pro plan will receive a 10 percent discount when purchasing EA digital content. They’ll also receive “Pro-level rewards and content” as part of their membership.

What’s the difference between “The Play List” and “The Pro Play List?”

The Pro Play List catalog includes some games that aren’t available to subscribers of the regular EA Play plan. On its website, EA said subscribers to the EA Play Pro plan can “[p]lay the best editions of our top games with all the added extras including in-game rewards, Season Passes, and premium player content.”

You can browse the games available in each list on EA’s website. The company’s website also allows you to browse the available games for each supported platform (Xbox, PlayStation, and PC).

Is there anything else parents need to know about EA Play?

Some of the games in the EA Play catalog offer online multiplayer features. To access these features on Xbox or PlayStation platforms, EA Play subscribers may also need a separate subscription to Xbox Live Gold (on Xbox consoles) or PlayStation Plus (on PlayStation consoles). You can learn more about Xbox Live Gold and PlayStation Plus in our guides for these services.

In addition, some of the games offered through EA Play are rated M for Mature by the ESRB, meaning they’ve been deemed inappropriate for anyone under the age of 17.

Finally, an EA Play membership is included at no additional cost for Xbox Game Pass PC and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers. You can learn more about Xbox Game Pass in our complete guide to the service.
