Update (10/05/2021): Our article originally stated the release date for Axle City Racers was October 16, 2021. The game was released on October 1, 2021. We’ve updated our article with the correct information. We apologize for any confusion.
Original Story:
Blaze and the Monster Machines: Axle City Racers is scheduled to hit consoles and PC later this year. Developed by 3DClouds and published by Outright Games, the game is inspired by the animated children’s series Blaze and the Monster Machines.
During a recent media event, SuperParent had the chance to play Blaze and the Monster Machines: Axle City Racers before it’s released.
Blaze and the Monster Machines: Axle City Racers is a kart racing game that allows players to race as seven cars from the animated series, including Blaze, Starla, Pickle, Crusher, and others. Each vehicle has a different special ability that kids can activate while racing. For instance, Blaze can activate a temporary speed boost while Pickle can activate a shield that offers temporary protection from the other vehicles’ special abilities.
The game features multiple gameplay modes, including an Adventure Mode with a series of Cups to complete, and a quick race mode for quickly jumping into the action. The game can be played by a single player, and it also supports multiplayer racing for up to four people in the same room.
During each race, kids can drift around corners to gain a temporary speed boost, as well as jump off of ramps. Wrenches are scattered throughout the track, and kids can drive through them to pick them up. Each time they collect 10 wrenches, they can activate their vehicle’s special ability.
In addition to offering standard controls, Blaze and the Monster Machines: Axle City Racers features an “auto driving” option that causes the player’s vehicle to automatically drive itself around the track. When this mode is turned on, kids don’t have to worry about steering. Instead they can focus on triggering their vehicle’s power-up, or on performing fun actions like making their car jump up and down or honking their car’s horn. This auto driving feature should also allow the game to be enjoyable for even the youngest racers and/or newcomers to racing video games.
Overall, Blaze and the Monster Machines: Axle City Racers will offer much simpler gameplay than other kart racing games, like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Nickelodeon Kart Racers 2: Grand Prix, but we still enjoyed our time with the game and the title’s potential to be enjoyed by even very young kids.
Blaze and the Monster Machines: Axle City Racers is scheduled to be released on Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on October 1, 2021. The game is rated E for Everyone by the ESRB.
