'Zombie Kitten' cards can revive players that have exploded.
Exploding Kittens, the game company behind tabletop games like Exploding Minions and A Game of Cat & Mouth, released Zombie Kittens, a twist on the original Exploding Kittens card game.
Zombie Kittens is a family-friendly card game for 2-5 players with a recommended age of 7+. Like the regular game of Exploding Kittens, Zombie Kittens will ask players to play and draw cards while trying to avoid drawing an Exploding Kitten card. When a player draws an Exploding Kitten card, they explode and “die.” The last surviving player in each game wins.
However, Zombie Kittens differs from Exploding Kittens in that “dead” players – that is, those who have drawn an Exploding Kitten card – can be revived and brought back into the game before the game is over.
Specifically, Zombie Kittens includes special “Zombie Kitten” cards that players can play to prevent themselves from being killed if they draw an Exploding Kitten card. If someone plays a Zombie Kitten card to protect themselves from an Exploding Kitten, they’ll be required to choose one of the “dead” players to bring back into the game (if there are any dead players at the time).
When a Zombie Kitten card is played and a dead player is revived, the Exploding Kitten cards (the Exploding Kitten card that was drawn by the player who played the Zombie Kitten card and the Exploding Kitten card that was previously drawn by the dead player) are placed back into the draw pile to ensure there are always enough Exploding Kitten cards in play to kill all but one player.
Dead players won’t be able to take any more turns unless they’re brought back to life. However, they can still play cards that have the “Now” marking, as well as “Nope” cards.
While Zombie Kittens can be played as a standalone game, the deck can also be combined with the original Exploding Kittens game to create a larger experience that supports up to nine players. This combined version of the games is called “Zombie Apocalypse.” Players can read the rules for Zombie Apocalypse on the Exploding Kittens website. This website also features rules that relate to using the expansions for Exploding Kittens (Barking Kittens, Streaking Kittens, and Imploding Kittens) with Zombie Kittens.
Zombie Kittens is now available for $20.99 on the Exploding Kittens website and at participating retailers. The original Exploding Kittens card game is priced at $19.99. It can also be purchased on the Exploding Kittens website and at participating stores.
