The next community day event is coming up fast!
The last Pokemon Go Community Day may have just taken place on May 19, but we’re already looking ahead to next month’s event, and for good reason! On June 8 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. local time, players will be able to encounter more Slakoth than normal while playing, including a chance to encounter its rare Shiny form!
Slakoth is a Normal-type Pokemon from Generation III of the Pokemon universe (seen in Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire, which were released on Game Boy Advance in 2003 in North America). This sloth-like Pokemon has two evolutions: Vigoroth and Slaking. When players evolve Vigoroth into Slaking during the three-hour Community Day event, and for up to one hour afterward, it will learn an exclusive battle move that’s yet to be announced.
During this event, Eggs will hatch after walking just a fourth of the normal required distance, so long as they’re placed into an Incubator during the event window. Lure Modules will also last for three hours when activated during this event, rather than the standard 30 minutes.
As a reminder, Lure Modules can be activated on PokeStops to lure wild Pokemon to the area for a limited time. The game recently added three new kinds of Lure Modules: Mossy Lure Modules, Glacial Lure Modules, and Magnetic Lure Modules. When players are in the vicinity of one of these active Lure Modules, they can trigger certain evolutions that (typically) aren’t otherwise available.
Depending on where you live, Slakoth is typically a pretty rare creature. That makes June’s Community Day event an exciting opportunity for players who need to fill in some holes in their in-game Pokedex. Mark your calendar so you don’t miss this chance!
Speaking of calendars, we also know when the Community Day events for July and August will take place: July 21 and August 3. We’ll let you know which Pokemon are featured in these events as that information is revealed.
