Players are encouraged to take pictures of Mega-Evolved Pokemon.
Trainers, the month of September will be a large celebration of Mega Evolution and Mega Pokemon in Pokemon Go!
A three-week (and three-part) Mega September event will give players the chance to unlock new Mega Pokemon, complete Timed Research tasks, and more.
The third and final week of this Mega September event will run from September 22 at 8 a.m. until September 28 at 10 p.m. local time.
During Week Three, “large” Pokemon, including Doduo, Alolan Exeggutor, Pinsir, Lapras, Snorlax, Furret, Wobbuffet, Mantine, and Skarmory, will appear more frequently than normal in the wild. Plus, players may encounter Shiny Doduo.
In addition, players will be able to complete special Field Research tasks during Week Three that reward them with Mega Energy for Venusaur, Charizard, Blastoise, and Beedrill. According to a news post on the Pokemon Go website, “[t]here will be an increase in Beedrill Mega Energy received from Field Research.”
Elsewhere, “large” Pokemon will appear in Raids during Week Three. Plus, Mega-Evolved Pokemon will remain Mega-Evolved for 12 hours, rather than four hours, during this third and final Mega September event. The duration of Poffins will also be doubled during this time.
In addition to these features, players are encouraged to take Snapshots of their Mega-Evolved Pokemon during this event for a chance to receive an encounter with a Pokemon of the same species.
Finally, a series of Timed Research tasks will be available to complete during Week Three. According to the news post, if players complete these tasks, they’ll have “a chance to unlock an exclusive Timed Research during this year’s Halloween Event that features Mega Gengar for the first time in Pokemon GO!”
