Bring holiday cheer to the tabletop with these new games.
Ahead of the holiday shopping season, Funko revealed a series of new tabletop games inspired by classic Christmas films. (The company also revealed new Christmas-themed Pops and other products, which you can check out right here.)
So far, four different games have been announced, and they’re all available to pre-order now at select retailers. Here’s a brief preview of each game.
A Christmas Story: A Major Card Game
Players: 3-6
Age Rating: 8+
This game includes 15 cards that contain images of characters and items from the film. It also comes with a small figure of the Fishnet Leg Lamp from the movie. Each game is expected to last 15 minutes. You can pre-order the game now on Amazon for $6.99.
Something Wild – The Nightmare Before Christmas
Players: 2-4
Age Rating: 6+
Funko’s “Something Wild” card games feature a variety of Disney characters. For instance, there are games based on Disney villains, The Little Mermaid, and Mickey and his friends. According to the Amazon product listing for Something Wild – The Nightmare Before Christmas, the game will allow you to “[p]lay numbered and colored character cards to make sets and runs.” It includes a small figure of Jack Skellington, which has a special power that affects gameplay.
Similar to Funko’s line of “Funkoverse” games, which can be mixed and matched to create a custom gameplay experience, individual Something Wild games can also be combined and played together. The Something Wild games (including this Nightmare Before Christmas version) cost around $8 each. You can pre-order them now on Amazon.
Funkoverse: The Nightmare Before Christmas
Players: 2-4
Age Rating: 10+
This latest installment in Funko’s line of strategy board games includes four small Pop figures: Jack Skellington, Sally, Oogie Boogie, and Dr. Finkelstein. National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation Card Game
Players: 2-4
Age Rating: 8+
While the Christmas Vacation movie is rated PG-13, this card game has been rated appropriate for younger players, ages 8 and up. According to the game’s Hot Topic product listing, this card game will ask you to “[l]ay tiles to create Christmas bulb combos.” It’s available to pre-order now on Hot Topic’s website for $6.99.
Frosty the Snowman Card Game
Players: 2-4
Age Rating: 4+
This cooperative card game is inspired by the Rankin and Bass animated film from 1969. It’s available to pre-order now on Amazon for $6.99.
Gremlins – Holiday Havoc Card Game
Players: 3-5
Age Rating: 8+
Gremlins – Holiday Havoc Card Game challenges you to capture the gremlins and save Christmas. It contains 50 Gremlin Cards, five Gizmo Cards, and more. Each game is expected to last 15 minutes. You can pre-order this one on Amazon for $6.99.
Elf – Snowball Showdown Card Game
Players: 3-6
Age Rating: 6+
Inspired by the popular holiday movie Elf, this card game lets 3-6 players compete in a snowball fight. It contains 46 Snow Cards, 12 Hit Cards, and more. Each game has an expected runtime of 20 minutes. You can pre-order Elf – Snowball Showdown Card Game on Amazon for $6.99.
