Here's an overview of Xbox's cloud gaming service.
Here’s everything parents need to know about Xbox Cloud Gaming.
Xbox Cloud Gaming is Xbox’s cloud gaming service that allows players to play a catalog of supported games by streaming them over a high-speed internet connection.
Xbox Cloud Gaming titles can be played on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC, as well as on iOS and Android phones and tablets. You can learn more about the supported platforms and how to play Xbox Cloud Gaming titles on each platform on Xbox’s website.
The Xbox Cloud Gaming service is available at no additional cost to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers. An Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription is priced at $14.99 per month. (As of this writing, new subscribers will receive their first three months for $1.) You can learn more about Xbox Game Pass Ultimate in our guide to the Xbox Game Pass service.
In addition, anyone can play Fortnite for free through Xbox Cloud Gaming on PC, as well as on iOS and Android devices, by using a Microsoft account (Xbox is owned by Microsoft). You can learn more about playing Fortnite through Xbox Cloud Gaming in our previous coverage.
Some of the games that can be played through Xbox Cloud Gaming have been rated M for Mature by the ESRB, meaning they’ve been deemed inappropriate for children. You can browse all of the games in the Xbox Game Pass UItimate catalog that support Xbox Cloud Gaming on Xbox’s website.
In addition, parents should know that streaming games over the internet can use a lot of data, which may be a problem for families whose internet subscriptions set a limit on the amount of data they can use each month.
You can learn more about Xbox Cloud Gaming, and read answers to frequently asked questions, on Xbox’s website.
