Pokemon Go Clamperl Evolution Guide

Here's everything you need to know about evolving this Water-type Pokemon.

In Pokemon Go, most Pokemon evolve in a “normal” way. That is, you need to collect the required number of Pokemon Candy for that species, and then press a button to evolve it — simple!

However, there are a handful of Pokemon that have unique evolutionary paths or requirements that need to be fulfilled before they can be evolved (like Kirlia and Combee, for instance).

And there are even Pokemon with random evolutions, meaning you won’t know which Pokemon you’ll receive when you tap the Evolve button. One of those Pokemon is Clamperl, a Water-type pocket monster from Generation III of the Pokemon universe.

Clamperl has two possible evolutions: Huntail and Gorebyss. You can evolve Clamperl in Pokemon Go by spending 50 Clamperl Candy. However, there’s no way to tell whether you’ll receive Huntail or Gorebyss when you evolve Clamperl, since its evolutions are random. That’s why the evolve button on Clamperl’s page has a question mark, rather than an image of a Pokemon (you can see this in the screenshot below).

If you’re trying to add both Huntail and Gorebyss to your Pokedex in Pokemon Go, you may wind up with a duplicate of one of these Pokemon on your quest to collect one of each. If that’s the case, you can try trading this duplicate Pokemon for the one you do need, since other players may have duplicates of their own that they don’t want.
