An all-new way to play Pokemon is on the horizon!
Pokemon Unite, the brand new strategic battle game featuring many fan-favorite Pokemon, has been confirmed for a July 21 launch date on Nintendo Switch, with mobile versions slated for September.
Unite is a 5-on-5 team-based battle game also known as a MOBA, or “multiplayer online battle arena,” in the vein of League of Legends. Players select from multiple Pokemon (each with specific attributes and abilities), create teams, and do battle in a massive arena. It is the first time the Pokemon franchise is branching out into the format.
Those who download and log in to Pokemon Unite between the July 21 launch date and August 31 will receive a free Pokemon, Zeraora, to use in battle. Zeraora can “close the distance between itself and its opponents in the blink of an eye, just like lightning, and deal massive amounts of damage all at once” according to the official press release.
