Head to the Rock Peak Ruins!
In The Crown Tundra expansion for Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield, trainers can encounter every Legendary Pokemon that has previously been available in the main games in the Pokemon video game franchise.
While many of these Legendary pocket monsters can be encountered by completing Dynamax Adventures in the Max Lair, some can only be found by completing quests around the Crown Tundra. One of these is Regirock.
Here’s everything you need to know about finding, battling, and catching Regirock in the Crown Tundra!
As you first begin the main story in The Crown Tundra expansion, you’ll meet Peony, an explorer who recruits you to work with him. As part of the story, he’ll ask you to explore a series of ruins that can be found in the Crown Tundra area.
Regirock is inside the “Rock Peak Ruins,” which can be found in the Giant’s Bed area of the Crown Tundra.
Specifically, the Rock Peak Ruins can found in the bottom-right corner of the Giant’s Bed area. Check out the map below to see their exact location.
When you interact with the door to the Rock Peak Ruins, you’ll receive a clue related to opening it: “Let the first Pokémon hold a never-changing stone.”
To open the door to the Rock Peak Ruins, you’ll need to give the first Pokemon in your current party an Everstone and then interact with the door again. This will cause the door to open so you can head inside!
Keep in mind that you can take the Everstone back from your lead Pokemon after the door opens. If the pocket monster was originally holding something that can help in the upcoming battle with Regirock, make sure to give that item back to them!
Once you enter the ruins, walk across the seven circles on the ground so that they light up (you can walk across them in any order). This will cause the statue at the back of the ruin to light up as well.
When you’re ready to challenge Regirock to a battle, interact with the statue and select “Yes.” This will instantly launch your battle against Regirock so that you can attempt to capture it!
Before you interact with the statue, be sure to save your game! That way, you can quickly reload your game and try the battle again if you run out of Poke Balls, or if Regirock knocks out your entire team before you can successfully capture it.
Legendary Pokemon are notoriously difficult to capture. That means it may take you quite a while (and even a few resets) to add Regirock to your collection. That being the case, you may want to check out the ChargePlay Clutch from HyperX. It can extend your device’s battery life so you can play Pokemon Sword and Shield (and other Switch games) for a longer period of time before having to charge your Switch. Head over to HyperX’s website to learn more about the ChargePlay Clutch and the company’s other accessories.
Once you’ve captured Regirock, you may be interested in catching Registeel and Regice as well. Check out our guides to learn more about catching these Legendary Pokemon!
