Gotta collect 'em all.
Pokemon Masters EX is celebrating the arrival of 2021 with lots of new content, including two New Year’s-themed sync pairs and a New Year’s story event. (Pokemon Masters EX is a free-to-play mobile game that allows players to compete in three-vs-three, team-based Pokemon battles across a variety of gameplay modes.)
With this update, players can collect the New Year’s-themed sync pairs of Lillie & Ribombee and Lance & Gyarados through the sync pair spotlight scout, which is available from now until January 13 at 9:59 p.m. PT. Both of these sync pairs can reach the 6-star EX rating. As a reminder, the game’s spotlight scouts are “loot boxes,” meaning you won’t know which sync pairs you’ll receive before you spend the in-game currency.
In addition to these new sync pairs, the game’s New Year’s update includes a new story event called “Season’s Greetings,” which follows Lillie and Lance as they work to hand out New Year’s cards. This story event is available to players who have completed at least Chapter 1 of the game’s main story, and it will be available to complete until January 13 at 9:59 p.m. PT.
On top of these New Year’s-themed updates, Pokemon Masters EX has also received (or will soon receive) a few general updates. Here’s the breakdown:
Champion Stadium Update – The Champion Stadium now features opponents from the Johto region of the Pokemon universe (Will, Koga, Bruno, Karen, and Lance). This version of the Champion Stadium will be available until January 31 at 9:59 p.m. PT. Players need to have completed at least Chapter 10 of the game’s main story to access the Champion Stadium feature. Following this update, characters from other regions of the Pokemon universe will be featured in the Champion Stadium.
Electric- and Steel-type Egg Event – From January 6 at 11 p.m. PT until January 20 at 10:59 p.m. PT, players can collect Electric- and Steel-type Eggs that contain Pokemon such as Pichu, Elekid, and Magnemite.
Legendary Event – From now until February 7 at 9:59 p.m. PT, players can complete a new Legendary Event called “Pure Hearts and Rainbow Wings,” which will allow them to create a sync pair with Ho-Oh. Players need to have finished Chapter 1 of the game’s main story to access this Legendary Event.
