Players will receive bonuses when they hatch Eggs for a limited time.
It’s a new year, trainers, and with the change in the calendar comes a great new event in Pokemon Go.
The Adventure Sync Hatchathon event was designed to encourage players to get out and walk in order to hatch Pokemon Eggs and receive in-game bonuses. Specifically, from now until January 15 at 4 p.m. ET, players will receive double the normal amount of Pokemon Candy and Stardust every time they hatch an Egg.
In addition, players will have a higher chance of receiving 5km and 10km Eggs from PokeStops and Gyms during this event.
As a refresher, Pokemon Candy and Stardust are two of the game’s currencies. They can be used in combination to power up pocket monsters to make them stronger in battle, and to unlock a new battle move for each Pokemon. Pokemon Candy can also be used on its own to evolve certain Pokemon into new creatures.
This event is named after the Adventure Sync feature that launched in Pokemon Go in late 2018. It allows users to give the Pokemon Go app permission to access their Apple Health or Google Fit data on iOS or Android, respectively, in order to track the steps they take even when they aren’t playing the game. This data is used to help hatch Pokemon Eggs and earn Buddy Pokemon Candy.
January will also see the first Pokemon Go Safari Zone event held in South America. From January 25 to January 27, attendees in Porto Alegre, Brazil will be able to visit the Guaíba riverbank, where they’ll have the chance to encounter Pokemon “rarely seen throughout South America.” The event is free, but players will need to register for a ticket in order to participate. Tickets are limited, so if you’ll be in the area, head to Pokemon Go’s website to grab yours fast.
Even if you won’t be in Porto Alegre during the Safari Zone event, you’ll still be able to get in on the fun. Players all throughout Brazil will be able to encounter many of the featured Pokemon as they play from January 25 to January 27, and Psyduck will appear more frequently worldwide during this event.
