Earlier this year, Niantic, the developer of Pokemon Go, announced a collaboration between Pokemon Go and the Pokemon Trading Card Game (TCG) that would see Professor Willow from Pokemon Go featured on a Pokemon TCG card.
At the time, very few details about this collaboration were revealed. However, we now know more about how this crossover will work.
Professor Willow is featured on a Pokemon TCG card called “Professor’s Research.” As of this writing, trainers can get their hands on one of these cards by purchasing a Pokemon Go product on the Pokemon Center website. As an example, fans can purchase the 2021 Pokemon Go Fest T-Shirt for $24.99, and they’ll receive the Professor’s Research card as a free gift.
The Professor’s Research card will feature a code that players can redeem on Niantic’s website to unlock a Special Research storyline in Pokemon Go. This Special Research will become available in July 2021. In a news post, Niantic said this Special Research will allow players to encounter Meltan and earn various in-game rewards in Pokemon Go.
Currently, buying a Pokemon Go item from the Pokemon Center website is the only way to get one of these Professor’s Research cards, and they’ll only be available while supplies last. However, the Pokemon website says “Trainers who complete research in Pokémon GO and tasks at Pokémon League events will also receive Professor Willow’s card while supplies last.”
Keep checking back with SuperParent, as we’ll bring you more details about how to collect this Professor’s Research card as they’re revealed.
