Lycanroc has multiple forms.
Pokemon Go’s Season of Alola began on March 1, 2022. When the Season began, a selection of Pokemon from the Alola region of the Pokemon universe became available to collect in the free-to-play mobile game.
One of these Pokemon was Rockruff, which has a unique evolutionary mechanic.
Here’s how to evolve Rockruff in Pokemon Go!
Rockruff can be evolved into Lycanroc, which has multiple possible forms.
Players can evolve Rockruff into Lycanroc using 50 Rockruff Candy. As reported by Dot Esports, if players evolve Rockruff into Lycanroc during the day, they’ll receive Midday Form Lycanroc, and if they evolve Rockruff into Lycanroc at night, they’ll receive Midnight Form Lycanroc.
When you view Rockruff’s page in your Pokemon Go collection, you’ll see that the Pokemon has two “Evolve” buttons, which allow you to choose the exact form of Lycanroc you want to receive. The top Evolve button (with the sun icon) is for Midday Lycanroc, while the bottom Evolve button (with the moon icon) is for Midnight Lycanroc.
If you tap the Evolve button for Midday Form Lycanroc at night, you’ll be told that Rockruff can only be evolved into Midday Form Lycanroc during the day.
Similarly, if you tap the Evolve button for Midnight Form Lycanroc during the day, you’ll be told that you can only evolve Rockruff into Midnight Form Lycanroc at night.
