Pokemon Go Hoopa’s Arrival Event: Everything You Need to Know

It's the first event in the Season of Mischief.

Trainers, the Season of Mischief kicks off in Pokemon Go on September 1 at 10 a.m. local time. The Season focuses on the arrival of Hoopa in the free-to-play mobile game. Throughout the Season, players will be able to complete Special Research tasks in order to earn an encounter with Confined Hoopa. The first event of the Season of Mischief is called Hoopa’s Arrival. It will take place on September 5 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. local time.

During this event, Psychic-, Ghost-, and Dark-type Pokemon will appear in the wild and will be attracted to Incense during different hourly blocks. Here’s the schedule:

  • 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. local time – Psychic-type Pokemon
  • 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. local time – Ghost-type and Dark-type Pokemon
  • 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. local time – Psychic-type Pokemon
  • 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. local time – Ghost-type and Dark-type Pokemon
  • 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. local time – Psychic-type Pokemon
  • 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. local time – Ghost-type and Dark-type Pokemon

In a news post, Niantic, the developer of Pokemon Go, shared some examples of the kinds of Pokemon players may encounter during this event:

  • Psychic-type Pokemon – Exeggcute, Jynx, Natu, Spoink, Girafarig, Munna, and Beldum
  • Ghost-type and Dark-type Pokemon – Alolan Rattata, Poochyena, Duskull, Purrloin, Sableye, Carvanha, and Drifloon

Players will be able to complete event-themed Field Research tasks during this event to receive Rare Candies and different types of Poke Balls. Plus, players will receive two Pokemon Candy for transferring Pokemon to Professor Willow during this event, instead of one.

A free item bundle will be available in the in-game Shop during this event. It will contain an Incense.

Finally, players will be able to complete a Collection Challenge during this event by capturing certain Pokemon that will be attracted to Incense during the event.
