Pokemon Go April Spotlight Hours: Everything You Need to Know

In February, two experimental events were added to Pokemon Go: Pokemon Spotlight Hour and Mystery Bonus Hour. The Pokemon Spotlight Hour event allowed one or more Pokemon to appear more frequently in the wild for one hour (typically) every Tuesday, while the Mystery Bonus Hour event caused a special bonus to be active in the game for a single hour each Thursday.

For the month of April, these two events are being combined into one weekly “Pokemon Spotlight Hour” event. Each Tuesday in April, a different Pokemon will appear more frequently in the wild from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. local time, and a special in-game bonus will also be active during that time.

Here’s the breakdown of the four different events that will take place in April:

• April 7, 2020 – Purrloin will appear more often, and you’ll earn two times the normal amount of experience points when you capture Pokemon.
• April 14, 2020 – Magnemite will appear in the wild more frequently, and you’ll receive twice the normal amount of Pokemon Candy when capturing Pokemon.
• April 21, 2020 – Wobbuffet will appear more often, and you’ll receive twice the normal amount of Pokemon Candy for transferring Pokemon to the professor.
• April 28, 2020 – Pidgey will appear more frequently, and you’ll earn twice the normal amount of experience points for evolving Pokemon.

In a news post, Niantic, the developer of Pokemon Go, said it was still testing the Pokemon Spotlight Hour and Mystery Bonus Hour events, so it’s possible we’ll see the events change again in May and beyond. Whatever happens, we’ll make sure to bring you all of the details you need to know.
