The new subscription option is coming soon.
During a Nintendo Direct video presentation Thursday, Nintendo revealed a new plan is coming to its Nintendo Switch Online membership program.
The Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership will offer everything that’s included with the standard Nintendo Switch Online membership, and it will also give subscribers the ability to play a variety of Nintendo 64 and Sega Genesis games.
This new membership plan isn’t replacing the standard Nintendo Switch Online membership. It will simply be another option for players and families to choose from. If your family already has an exisitng Nintendo Switch Online membership, you will have the option to switch to this new plan once it’s available.
The Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership option will debut in October, but Nintendo didn’t reveal the exact release date or price for this new plan just yet. However, it did reveal the Nintendo 64 and Sega Genesis games that will be available at launch:
Additional Nintendo 64 and Sega Genesis games will be added to the service going forward. For instance, Nintendo revealed a selection of Nintendo 64 games that will be added to the service after it debuts:
Some of the Nintendo 64 games that are available with this plan will support up to four player local (in the same room) and online multiplayer.
Finally, Nintendo also revealed two wireless controllers that are inspired by the original Nintendo 64 and Sega Genesis controllers. These controllers can be used to play games on the Switch. Nintendo Switch Online members will be able to purchase these controllers for $49.99 each.
