The games will be available to stream over the internet.
In fall 2021, Square Enix announced that multiple games in the popular Kingdom Hearts franchise would be released on Switch as cloud games.
A “cloud game” or “cloud title” is a game that can be played through streaming via a high-speed internet connection. This means you don’t have to download or install the full game to your Switch. You simply play the game while connected to the internet.
While cloud streaming is convenient if you don’t have a lot of extra storage space on your system to hold new games, streaming games can use up a lot of data, which is worth keeping in mind if your household has a limit on the amount of data you can use each month.
KINGDOM HEARTS HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMIX, KINGDOM HEARTS HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue, KINGDOM HEARTS III + Re Mind (DLC), and the KINGDOM HEARTS series collection for Cloud will be released on Switch on February 10, 2022.
If players purchase KINGDOM HEARTS III + Re Mind (DLC) on its own or receive it as part of the KINGDOM HEARTS series collection for Cloud, they’ll receive the Advent Red Keyblade to use in the game.
Ahead of the release of these games on Switch, fans can now try free demos of KINGDOM HEARTS HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMIX, KINGDOM HEARTS HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue, and KINGDOM HEARTS III + Re Mind (DLC) on Switch in order to test how their internet connection handles streaming games.
