Bring the fun of Mario Kart into the real world with these die-cast toys.
Last year, we learned that Hot Wheels was working on a line of Mario Kart vehicles and racetracks inspired by Nintendo’s popular series of kart racing video games. Now, racing fans young and old can get their hands on these toys, which are available individually and in sets.
The Hot Wheels Mario Kart line features 1:64th scale die-cast karts, which are being driven by characters from the Mario Kart games, including Mario, Yoshi, Luigi, and Bowser. Additional characters, such as Princess Peach, Koopa Troopa, and Toad, will be released in the future.
These karts are “compatible with existing Hot Wheels sets,” but if you want to keep the Mario Kart theme going, three themed track sets are available to purchase as well: a Piranha Plant Slide Track Set, a Thwomp Ruins Track Set, and a Circuit Track Set.
All three sets feature elements inspired by the Mario Kart games, and they’re recommended for ages 3+. The Piranha Plant set includes a Yoshi die-cast kart, while the Thwomp Ruins set includes Luigi. Finally, the Circuit Track includes Mario and Yoshi.
According to a press release, the track sets and karts “will be available globally in select markets and retailers starting in Summer 2019.”
For now, though, Nintendo said these track sets are available exclusively at Target (both online and in stores). The Piranha Plant and Thwomp Ruins sets cost $19.99 each, while the Circuit Track Set is priced at $79.99.
