It's time to meet some adorable new friends!
The wait is finally over! The “Animal Crossing Sanrio Collaboration Pack” of amiibo cards is now available at Target, and Animal Crossing: New Horizons players can now invite six new Sanrio-themed villagers to live on their islands!
Here’s everything you need to know about using these amiibo cards (as well as unlocking all of the Sanrio-themed goodies that come with them)!
When you’re ready to invite one of these new villagers to your island, head into the Resident Services building and interact with the Nook Stop terminal.
Select “Invite amiibo camper,” and then choose “Yes, I do!” to begin the scanning process.
Follow the on-screen instructions to scan the amiibo card with your Switch, Switch Lite, or Nintendo Switch Pro Controller, if you’re using one.
Once you scan one of these new amiibo cards, New Horizons will ask you if you want to invite the villager to your campsite.
Here’s something important you should know about these amiibo cards: If all you care about is unlocking the Sanrio-themed decorations and items in New Horizons, you don’t have to invite the character to your campsite. Simply scanning the amiibo card will cause the character’s associated items to show up in the Nook Shopping catalog. For instance, scanning Rilla’s amiibo card will unlock the Hello Kitty-themed items for you to purchase, and so on. Check out our list of all of the Sanrio-themed items you can unlock using these amiibo cards!
If you do want to invite the character to your campsite, select “Yes.”
The game will call the amiibo character and they’ll agree to visit your campsite.
From there, you can visit your campsite to interact with the villager you’ve invited. Like any other amiibo character, if you talk to them multiple times, they’ll eventually give you a quest to complete, which will require you to give them a specific item. If you invite the villager to your campsite and complete their request three times (that is, on three separate days), you can invite them to live on your island!
And that’s all there is to it! Have fun with your new animal friends!
