You'll need to purchase a special item from the store.
Permanent ladders are one of the many new features in the Version 2.0 update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
These permanent ladders work like normal ladders, in that they can be used to reach cliffs without building stairs or inclines. However, unlike a regular ladder, which is placed back in the player’s inventory after it’s used, permanent ladders are like furniture pieces that players can install wherever they want, and they’ll remain in place until players decide to pick them up again.
Before you can start installing permanent ladders around your island, you’ll need to create them using the Ladder Set-Up DIY recipe.
Check out our gameplay video below to see where to get this DIY recipe and how to create a permanent ladder, or keep reading for the details!
Players can purchase the Ladder Set-Up Kit DIY recipe from the cabinet inside Nook’s Cranny for 2,000 Bells.
Once players learn this recipe, they can create a permanent ladder using one regular ladder and five pieces of wood.
Players can create as many permanent ladders as they want, and they can also customize the look of each one by choosing from different paint colors, like red and yellow. Each ladder requires a single Customization Kit to customize.
And that’s all there is to it! Have fun creating new ways to get around your island!
