The game is inspired by the 'Trollhunters' animated series on Netflix.
A family-friendly video game inspired by Dreamworks’ animated Netflix series Trollhunters: Tales of Arcadia (rated TV-Y7) is coming to consoles and PC this fall.
Trollhunters Defenders of Arcadia is a side-scrolling platformer (think levels in Super Mario Maker 2), which will follow Jim Lake Jr. on a quest to stop Porgon the Trickster Troll and the “Time-pocalypse.” The game will allow players to upgrade their armor and abilities over time, and they can even team up with a friend or family member in the same room via the game’s local co-op mode.
Trollhunters Defenders of Arcadia will be released on Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on September 25, 2020. The game is rated E10+ by the ESRB.
Trollhunters is only one part of DreamWorks’ overall Tales of Arcadia trilogy.
A press release about Defenders of Arcadia described the series:
“Dreamworks Animation’s Tales of Arcadia trilogy is made up of Trollhunters, 3Below and the eagerly anticipated new series, Wizards, which launches later this year on Netflix. The trilogy centers on the seemingly ordinary town of Arcadia Oaks that happens to lie at the center of magical and mystical lines that make it a nexus for many battles among otherworldly creatures including trolls, aliens and wizards. The new game, DreamWorks Trollhunters Defenders of Arcadia, tells a brand-new story that takes place in between the distinct worlds from the three series and acts as a key narrative beat that unifies the trilogy.”
