Slice and dice your way through your opponents!
Boomerang Fu is a local multiplayer party game that’s coming to Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PC this summer. The game allows up to six players in the same room to become pieces of food, like an eggplant, avocado, and slice of bacon, and then duke it out in over 30 different arenas using boomerangs as their weapons.
The game will feature two main gameplay modes. In one, players can team up to take out computer-controlled opponents. In the other, everyone can fight over a special Golden Boomerang.
Each of the game’s arenas has a different layout, and some may be filled with traps and obstacles, such as moving platforms and walls. Since each player controls a character that’s made of food, you can literally slice and dice your friends, or laugh as you watch them get squished by an obstacle. While that sounds violent, the game has cute, cartoon-inspired graphics, rather than realistic violence and gore.
You’ll also have a variety of power-ups at your disposal, which can help you defeat other players or even protect yourself from their attacks. For instance, one power-up will allow you to move faster, while another will let you “dash through walls.” You’ll be able to customize your experience to only play with the power-ups you want being available.
Boomerang Fu is scheduled to be released on Switch, Xbox One, and PC on August 13, 2020. From the game’s release date trailer (embedded above), this one looks like a great game for families who enjoy the hectic (and hilarious) gameplay found in titles like Overcooked 2.
