Watch out for Heatran Raids and Shiny Buizel!
Trainers, the Pokemon Go Tour: Kanto event is only a few weeks away!
Ahead of this Kanto-themed event in February, Niantic, the developer of Pokemon Go, is hosting a series of limited time events in the free-to-play mobile game that focus on different regions of the Pokemon universe.
This series kicked off with a Unova-themed event, which is running from now until January 10 at 8 p.m. local time.
Next, Pokemon Go will put the spotlight on the Sinnoh region with a Sinnoh Celebration event. This event will run from January 12 at 10 a.m. local time until January 17 at 8 p.m. local time.
During the Sinnoh Celebration, Turtwig, Chimchar, Piplup, Bidoof, Cranidos, Shieldon, Combee, Buizel, Drifloon, Glameow, Purugly, Hippopotas, Skorupi, and Snover will appear more frequently than normal in the wild, and there will be the chance for Buizel to be Shiny.
In addition, Kricketot, Budew, Cranidos, Shieldon, Bronzor, Bonsly, Hippopotas, and Croagunk will have the chance to hatch from 5 km Eggs that are collected during this Sinnoh Celebration.
Next, players will be able to complete event-exclusive Field Research tasks for a chance to receive Stardust and encounters with Pokemon like Turtwig, Chimchar, Piplup, Cranidos, Shieldon, and Buizel.
A variety of Sinnoh Pokemon will also appear in Raids during this event. Here’s the breakdown:
During the Sinnoh Celebration, players will have the chance to complete the Sinnoh-themed Collection Challenge to receive Stardust, a Magnetic Lure, and 15 Ultra Balls. To complete this Challenge, you’ll need to collect the following Pokemon during the Sinnoh Celebration event:
To be clear, if you already own these Pokemon, that won’t count for this Collection Challenge. You need to collect “new” versions of these Pokemon in order to complete the Challenge. Learn more about Collection Challenges in our previous coverage.
Following this Sinnoh-themed event, the next celebration event in Pokemon Go will feature Pokemon from the Hoenn region. The 2021 Hoenn Celebration event will run from January 19 until January 24. We’ll make sure to bring you more details about this event as soon as Niantic reveals them.
