Pokemon Go: How to Take a Snapshot of a Wild Pokemon

Thursday, April 29th, 2021 10:28 am

It's not the same as taking pictures of Pokemon you already own.

Trainers, the New Pokemon Snap event has kicked off in Pokemon Go!

As part of this event, players can complete a series of Timed Research tasks that focus on taking snapshots of wild Pokemon. (Check out our full guide to see what these Timed Research tasks ask you to do, and the rewards you’ll receive for completing them.)

Taking a snapshot of a wild Pokemon is different than taking a snapshot of a Pokemon you’ve already captured. If you’re unfamiliar with taking snapshots of wild Pokemon, here’s how to do it!

Once you tap on a wild Pokemon, you’ll be taken to the capture screen. Instead of tossing a berry or ball at the Pokemon, tap the camera icon at the top of the screen.

Now, tap the capture button at the bottom of the screen to take a picture of the wild Pokemon. This will count for any tasks you currently have that ask you to take a picture of a wild Pokemon. (Keep in mind, some tasks may ask you to take snapshots of Pokemon with specific “types,” like Ground-type Pokemon.)

To get back to the capture screen, tap the checkmark or the trash can at the bottom of the screen, depending on whether you want to save or delete the photo, respectively.

Finally, tap the back arrow in the bottom-left corner of the screen to return to the capture screen!

And that’s all there is to it!
