Embark on a new kind of Pokemon journey in the Hisui region!

Pokemon Legends: Arceus is now available for Nintendo Switch. The action role-playing game (RPG) takes players to the distant past, where they’ll explore the Hisui region of the Pokemon universe. Rather than being an entirely new region, the Hisui region is what the Sinnoh region was called before it received its modern name (the Sinnoh region is where games like Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Pokemon Shining Pearl take place).

In Pokemon Legends: Arceus, players will travel to Jubilife Village, where they’ll join the Galaxy Expedition Team’s Survey Corps on their quest to create the first Pokedex for the Hisui region.

The game allows players to team up with Cyndaquil, Rowlet, or Oshawott as their starting Pokemon. As players progress through the game, they’ll be able to battle and/or capture additional Pokemon, as well as complete quests, collect resources, craft items, and more.

While many of the Pokemon found in the Hisui region have been seen in other Pokemon games, Pokemon Legends: Arceus also introduces players to some new pocket monsters. For example, Wyrdeer is a Normal- and Psychic-type Pokemon that evolves from Stantler in the Hisui region, while Basculegion is a Water- and Ghost-type Pokemon that evolves from Basculin in the Hisui region (and there are more than these two examples).

Pokemon Legends: Arceus is now available for $59.99. The game is rated E for Everyone by the ESRB. While Pokemon Legends: Arceus is family-friendly, the game doesn’t feature voice acting, so players need to know how to read or play alongside someone who can help them follow along with the story.

Disclosure: Nintendo gave SuperParent a code for Pokemon Legends: Arceus for coverage purposes.
