Pokemon Go Tour: Kanto Research Collection Challenge Guide

Everything you need to know!

It’s almost time for the Pokemon Go Tour: Kanto event to kick off in Pokemon Go! This event offers some features for all players (like the appearance of Pokemon from the Kanto region in the wild), but most of the event’s festivities are locked behind an optional ticket.

For instance, if you purchase a ticket for this event, you’ll be able to complete 10 different Collection Challenges by collecting certain groups of Pokemon before time runs out. Specifically, you’ll have until February 28 at 7:59 p.m. local time to complete these challenges.

Half of the 10 Challenges are inspired by locations from the first two Pokemon video games (Pokemon Red and Pokemon Green), while the other half are focused on the ways players can collect the Pokemon required to complete them.

Here’s everything you need to know about completing the Research Collection Challenge in Pokemon Go!

According to Serebii.net, the Research Collection Challenge asks players to collect eight Pokemon:

  • Cubone
  • Lickitung
  • Chansey
  • Tangela
  • Lapras
  • Ditto
  • Aerodactyl
  • Snorlax

On the Pokemon Go support website, Niantic, the developer of Pokemon Go, said you’ll be able to encounter all of these Pokemon as reward encounters for completing the Pokemon Go Tour: Kanto Special Research tasks. Check out our guide to see what those tasks ask you to do.

Plus, Niantic said you may be able to find Lickitung, Chansey, Tangela, Lapras, Aerodactyl, and Snorlax in the wild, though they will be rare. These Pokemon will have the chance to appear in the wild during the entire Pokemon Go Tour: Kanto event on February 20. That is, they won’t be exclusive to a single hourly block.

According to Serebii.net, players will receive 1,510 experience points, three Silver Pinap berries, and an encounter with Ditto for completing this Collection Challenge.

Disclosure: Niantic gave SuperParent codes for the Pokemon Go Tour: Kanto event for coverage purposes.
