Pokemon Go Halloween Mischief Event: Pumpkaboo, Phantump, Galarian Slowking, and More

Halloween season is upon us, and Pokemon Go is going to celebrate with a major “Halloween Mischief” event that will run from October 15 to October 31, 2021. Niantic, the developer of Pokemon Go, revealed details about the Halloween Mischief event on the Pokemon Go website.

The Halloween Mischief event will be split into two parts.

Part 1 is called “Creepy Companions” and it will run from October 15 at 10 a.m local time until October 22 at 10 a.m. local time.

Part 2 is called “Ghoulish Pals,” and it will run from October 22 at 10 a.m. local time until October 31 at 8 p.m. local time.

Finally, some of the Halloween Mischief content will be available throughout both parts of the event (that is, from October 15 to October 31).

Here’s everything that’s happening during the Pokemon Go Halloween Mischief event!

Full Event Content – These bonuses or features apply to the entire Halloween Mischief event period

  • Players will have the chance to encounter three costumed Pokemon: Halloween Mischief Pikachu, Halloween Mischief Piplup, and Halloween Mischief Drifblim. All three of these costumed Pokemon will have the chance to be Shiny.
  • Players will be able to begin a new Special Research storyline called “What Lies Beneath the Mask?”
  • The Halloween Cup will be available in the Go Battle League.
  • Players will be able to complete Timed Research tasks that will ask them to participate in the Halloween Cup in the Pokemon Go Battle League.
  • Players will receive two times the normal number of Pokemon Candy when catching Pokemon.
  • Players will receive two times the normal number of Pokemon Candy when transferring Pokemon to Professor Willow.
  • Players will receive two times the normal number of Pokemon Candy when hatching Eggs.
  • Players will be guaranteed to receive Candy XL as they walk with their Buddy Pokemon.
  • A remix of the “Lavender Town” music from the Pokemon video game franchise will play in the game during this event.
  • Players will be able to collect Halloween-themed stickers by opening Gifts, spinning PokeStops, and purchasing them from the in-game store.
  • Three item boxes will be available to purchase in the store. The Creepy Crate will cost 480 PokeCoins, and it will contain 50 Poke Balls, one Remote Raid Pass, two Super Incubators, and four Incense. The Boo Bundle will be priced at 1,480 PokeCoins, and it will come with 16 Premium Raid Passes, eight Super Incubators, four Incense, and four Star Pieces. Finally, the Pumpkin Pack will also cost 1,480 PokeCoins. It will contain 18 Super Incubators, two Incubators, four Incense, and four Star Pieces.
  • Beginning on October 14 at 1 p.m. PT, players will be able to purchase Halloween-themed avatar items from the shop. These items are the Pikachu Pumpkin Head, Pumpkaboo Top, Pumpkaboo Pants, Hoopa Headband, and Halloween Face Sticker. All of these items will continue to be available after the Halloween Mischief event ends.

Creepy Companions – October 15 at 10 a.m. local time to October 22 at 10 a.m. local time

  • Galarian Slowking will make its in-game debut. Before players can evolve Galarian Slowpoke into Galarian Slowking, they’ll need to catch 30 Psychic-type Pokemon while Galarian Slowpoke is their Buddy. Players will be able to evolve Galarian Slowpoke into Galarian Slowking even after this event ends.
  • Shiny Spinarak will become available to encounter.
  • A new portion of the Misunderstood Mischief Special Research storyline will become available.
  • Halloween Mischief Pikachu, Halloween Mischief Piplup, Zubat, Drowzee, Gastly, Spinarak, Misdreavus, Shuppet, Stunky, Woobat, and Gothita will appear more frequently than normal in the wild.
  • Players may be able to encounter Yamask in the wild, though Niantic indicated it will be a rare encounter.
  • Galarian Slowpoke, Murkrow, Scraggy, Yamask, and Espurr will appear in Tier-1 Raids.
  • Halloween Mischief Drifblim, Alolan Raichu, Sableye, and Banette will appear in Tier-3 Raids.
  • Altered Forme Giratina will appear in Tier-5 Raids.
  • Mega Gengar will appear in Mega Raids.
  • Spinarak, Misdreavus, Shuppet, Chingling, Litwick, Galarian Yamask, and Golett will have the chance to hatch from 7 km Eggs that are collected during this portion of the Halloween Mischief event.
  • Players will be able to encounter Halloween Mischief Pikachu, Halloween Mischief Piplup, Halloween Mischief Drifblim, Zubat, Drowzee, Spinarak, Woobat, Gothita, and Galarian Yamask by completing Field Research tasks. Niantic indicated that encounters with Halloween Mischief Drifblim and Galarian Yamask will be rarer than the other encounters.

Ghoulish Pals – October 22 at 10 a.m. local time to October 31 at 8 p.m. local time

  • Pumpkaboo, Gourgeist, Phantump, and Trevenant will be added to Pokemon Go.
  • Players will be able to collect Pumpkaboo and Gourgeist in four different sizes: Small Size, Average Size, Large Size, and Super Size. Pumpkaboo and Gourgeist will look smaller or larger in the game depending on their size.
  • A new portion of the Misunderstood Mischief Special Research storyline will become available.
  • Players will be able to complete a Collection Challenge that asks them to collect Pumpkaboo of different sizes.
  • Players will be able to encounter Halloween Mischief Pikachu, Halloween Mischief Piplup, Gastly, Murkrow, Misdreavus, Shuppet, Purrloin, Phantump, Small Size Pumpkaboo, and Average Size Pumpkaboo more frequently than normal in the wild.
  • Players may be able to encounter Haunter, Yamask, Litwick, Large Size Pumpkaboo, and Super Size Pumpkaboo in the wild, though Niantic indicated they’ll be rarer than the other Pokemon featured in this event.
  • Murkrow, Yamask, Galarian Yamask, Phantump, and Average Size Pumpkaboo will appear in Tier-1 Raids.
  • Halloween Mischief Drifblim, Alolan Marowak, Banette, and Lampent will appear in Tier-3 Raids.
  • Darkrai will appear in Tier-5 Raids.
  • Mega Absol will appear in Mega Raids.
  • Spinarak, Misdreavus, Shuppet, Litwick, Phantump, Galarian Yamask, and Golett will have the chance to hatch from 7 km Eggs that are collected during this portion of the Halloween Mischief event.
  • Players will be able to complete Field Research tasks to earn encounters with Halloween Mischief Pikachu, Halloween Mischief Piplup, Gastly, Spinarak, Shuppet, Duskull, Yamask, and Galarian Yamask. Niantic indicated that encounters with Yamask and Galarian Yamask will be rarer than encounters with the other featured Pokemon.
  • A Halloween Mischief Special Raid Weekend will take place from October 30 at 10 a.m. local time until October 31 at 8 p.m. local time. During this event, Mega Absol and Darkrai will appear more frequently than normal in Raids.
