Pokemon Go Element Cup: Everything You Need to Know

Monday, June 28th, 2021 7:41 am

Test your skills with low CP pocket monsters.

Trainers, the Element Cup is about to begin in the Pokemon Go Battle League!

The Element Cup will run from June 28 at 1 p.m. PT until July 12 at 1 p.m. PT.

The Element Cup has some unique restrictions that limit the kinds of Pokemon that can be used in battles.

Specifically, only Fire-, Water-, and Grass-type Pokemon can participate in the Element Cup, and these Pokemon must be first in their evolutionary line. That is, the Pokemon must be able to evolve, but haven’t evolved yet. For instance, a Pokemon like Squirtle can be used in the Element Cup, but its evolutions — Wartortle and Blastoise — can not.

If you have a Pokemon that has more than one type, it can participate in the Element Cup so long as one of the Pokemon’s types is Fire, Water, or Grass. For instance, Frillish is a Water- and Ghost-type Pokemon that has the ability to evolve. It can be used in the Element Cup because Water is one of its two types.

Finally, there’s a CP limit of 500 for the Element Cup, meaning only Pokemon with a CP of 500 or lower can participate.
