Players can test how well they know their friends and family in this trivia game.
In September 2019, the original Pando card game was released, giving teens and adults a way to learn more about their friends and family by answering personal trivia questions found on cards.
While the original Pando card game has an age rating of 14+, younger kids can get in on the fun by trying Pando Kids Edition.
Pando Kids Edition is for 2-10 players with a recommended age range of 7-12. While the game is meant for younger players, older players and adults can still play alongside children, though some of the questions may not apply to older players.
For instance, a question like “Do I play four square at recess?” may not apply to an older player, but these questions can be adapted to suit older members of the group. In this example, the group may want to change the question to something like “Did I play four square at recess when I was in school?” if that better fits their situation.
Pando Kids Edition features 315 trivia cards that each contain three different questions. During each game, players will take turns being the current “Reader” and “Guesser.” On each turn, the current Reader will draw a card and ask the Guesser the three questions on the card. The Guesser will need to answer the questions with answers that they think are true for that particular Reader.
For instance, let’s say a parent is the current Reader and their child is the current Guesser. If the parent asks their child a question like “How many pairs of shoes do I have?”, the child will need to guess how many pairs of shoes that parent has.
Once all three questions on a card are read and answered, the Guesser will earn a point if they answered all three questions correctly. After each card is read, the box of cards will move to the next player who will become the Reader. If the Guesser answered all three questions correctly on the previous card (for the previous Reader), their turn will continue with the new Reader and this cycle will continue until they eventually answer a question incorrectly. At this point, the next player will become the Guesser.
This gameplay continues until a player earns five points and is declared the winner. Families can also change this point requirement to play shorter or longer games as they see fit. A standard game of Pando Kids Edition has an expected play time of 30 minutes.
It’s worth pointing out that while these rules will work for a two-player game, the instruction booklet for Pando Kids Edition encourages players to visit a website to view specific rules for two-player groups. However, as of this writing, when visiting the website linked in the game’s instruction booklet, the two-player ruleset isn’t available. It’s possible this ruleset may be published in the future.
