Players can compete with others in the same room and online.

Nintendo Switch Sports was released in April 2022. At launch, the sports-themed video game allowed players to use motion controls to play six sports: Soccer, Volleyball, Bowling, Tennis, Badminton, and Chambara (“swordplay”).

Now, a seventh sport – Golf – has been added to the game via a free content update that’s available to download on Switch.

The game’s Golf mode will allow players to test their golfing skills on 21 holes from the Wii Sports series of video games. Players can compete against their friends and family in the same room using a single Switch system, and they can also compete with other players online in a “Survival Golf” mode. According to an email from Nintendo, in the Survival Golf mode, “[t]he player who takes the most strokes each round will be eliminated.” The Survival Golf mode supports up to eight players.

Players will need a Nintendo Switch Online membership to play Nintendo Switch Sports online with other people. You can learn more about Nintendo Switch Online in our complete guide to the service.

The physical version of Nintendo Switch Sports (which includes a Leg Strap accessory) is available for $49.99. The digital version of the game (which doesn’t include the Leg Strap) is available to download for $39.99. You’ll need to own the base game of Nintendo Switch Sports to access the free Golf mode update.

Nintendo Switch Sports is rated E10+ for Everyone 10+ by the ESRB. You can learn more about the game in our review.
