Get ready to defeat Dr. Cortex... again.

Activision announced a new game in the beloved Crash Bandicoot series called Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time.

In Crash Bandicoot 4, the main villain from the Crash games, Dr. Neo Cortex, is back, and he wants revenge. Crash will need to work with friends — like his sister, Coco — to defeat Cortex once again before it’s too late.

While ths storyline in Crash Bandicoot 4 is new, the gameplay will be familiar to fans of previous titles in the series. Like many other (but not all) Crash Bandicoot games, It’s About Time is a platformer that will challenge you to avoid and/or jump over obstacles, defeat or avoid enemies, and collect items (like fruit) as you play. The game will also include new features and new worlds to explore.

For instance, players will be able to use new abilities with the help of four living masks.

On the official Activision Games Blog, writer James Mattone shared more details about these masks:

“New to Crash Bandicoot 4 are the Quantum Masks: four powerful guardians of space and time that give our heroes the power to bend the rules of reality and conquer dangerous obstacles in exciting new ways.

“Out of these four masks, two are introduced within the launch trailer: Kupuna-Wa (the Time Mask), who slows down time to allow for even more precise movements, and the Ika Ika (the Gravity Mask), who allows for platforming upside down despite the regular laws of physics!”

Finally, Crash Bandicoot 4 will allow us to play as Coco and even Cortex himself.

Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time will be available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on October 2, 2020. It’s available to pre-order now. If you buy the game digitally, you’ll receive the “Totally Tubular” outfits for Crash and Coco.
