Mark your calendars, LEGO The Incredibles will be here in June.
Fourteen years after the original movie, Incredible 2 is set to hit theaters on June 15. And, like some of our other favorite franchises, it looks like The Incredibles is getting the Lego game treatment. Developer TT Games just announced LEGO The Incredibles, which will let players jump into both Disney*Pixar films and play out their superhero fantasies alongside the Parr family.
LEGO The Incredibles will combine the joys of virtual Lego building with characters, storylines and environments from the two films. Kids of all ages will be able to freely explore the world, using each character’s super powers to defeat enemies, solve puzzles and collect currency. And, like all the other Lego games, this game will include drop-in, drop-out co-op play, which will make this a solid choice for family game time.
Even though the action-packed game will put you head-to-head with enemies, violence in Lego games amounts to characters exploding into bricks — there’s no blood, and no realism. Similarly, players never really die. When a character’s health bar runs out, they simply respawn where they fell and continue from there.
For your money, the Lego games are some of the best out there. Each one offers dozens of hours of gameplay, especially for players who want to see and do it all.
They’re also some of the best starter games for kids. The drop-in-drop-out multiplayer allows you to quickly join your child’s session to help them if they get stuck, and then leave just as quickly so they can get back to busting bricks. Unless, of course, you want to stick around — which you probably will — these Lego games are generally well done and truly fun for everyone.
LEGO The Incredibles will launch on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch and PC on June 15.
In the meantime, we highly recommend checking out other Lego games for the fam. As examples, there are great Lego versions of The Lord of the Rings, Jurassic World, Indiana Jones, Marvel’s Avengers and Batman.
For a ridiculously awesome, over-the-top Lego game, check out Lego Dimensions, which mixes characters from a slew of shows and films into the pop culture slurry of your dreams, while also allowing kids to collect mini-figures that they can bring to life in the game. We were bummed to learn that Dimensions is going to be discontinued, but on the plus side, it’s not too late to score mini-figures and level packs on the cheap. Then, sit back, and watch your kids stay entertained for hours.
