Save the Olympics from Dr. Eggman in this family-friendly mobile game.
While the 2020 Summer Olympics have been postponed to 2021 due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, a new mobile game will allow you to celebrate the Olympics right now.
Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 follows Sonic, Tails, and other characters from the Sonic the Hedgehog games as they compete in various Olympic events with the goal of saving the Games from Dr. Eggman.
The game includes over 15 Olympic events, like track and field races, sport climbing, archery, and trap shooting, as a few examples. Each event is its own mini-game, asking you to use touch controls (like swiping, tapping, and dragging) to help Sonic (or another playable character) compete. If you finish an event in one of the top three positions, you’ll earn the Bronze, Silver, or Gold medal for that event.
As you compete, you can compare your performances against those of other players on the in-game leaderboards. You can also replay events if you want to improve your fastest time, earn a higher score, etc. Plus, you can replay events as different characters.
While Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 is free to download, you can only play a portion of the game’s levels for free. Levels are split into different areas around Tokyo, and you can pay real money to unlock these different areas via in-app purchase, or spend $9.99 to buy the game’s All Access Pass.
Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 is available to download on iOS, Android, and Amazon devices. The game is rated 4+ on iOS, E for Everyone on Android, and All Ages on Amazon.
