Grow crops, care for animals, and craft recipes as you create a new life for yourself on a beautiful island.
Aksys Games recently launched Pretty Princess Magical Garden Island on Nintendo Switch. The game is the latest title in the Pretty Princess franchise, which also includes Pretty Princess Party.
Pretty Princess Magical Garden Island is an adorable family-friendly farming game that allows players to travel to Carrot Isle, where they can spend their time growing crops, taking care of animals, catching insects, fishing, and more. Along the way, players will have the goal of collecting the recipe and ingredients for a tasty Princess Cake.
When players first begin Pretty Princess Magical Garden Island, they’ll be able to name their princess character and customize her appearance by choosing from a variety of eye shapes, eye colors, skin tones, hair styles, and hair colors.
From there, they’ll meet the game’s main characters, including a helpful rabbit butler named Asbel, and will travel to Carrot Isle. The island is fairly empty when players arrive, but players will be able to restore the island to its former glory by building new structures and decorations to create the island of their dreams.
While players are free to complete activities as they see fit, the game encourages players to collect specific items to fill orders made by other visitors to the island. For instance, one request may ask for corn, while another may ask for a certain kind of seashell that can be found on the beaches near the edge of the island.
As players complete these requests, they’ll receive Lumina and Gratitude Points. Lumina is the game’s heart-shaped currency, while Gratitude Points are experience points that will allow players to level up over time and unlock new in-game features. For instance, leveling up may make more items become available to purchase at the game’s shops. (Players can also collect Lumina by selling unwanted items.)
Players can build a variety of crafting buildings over time, like a Carpentry shop and a Creamery shop, where they can use the resources they’ve collected to create more complicated items (like turning timber logs into hardwood planks).
In addition, while some items, like seeds and tree saplings, can be purchased using Lumina, many items, including new crafting buildings, island decorations, outfits, hairstyles, and makeup options (like eye shadow and lipstick) can only be created by collecting the required items first. For instance, the “Moo Moo Manor” (a cow barn) requires players to collect three pieces of hardwood and three corn, while the “Tourmaline Rose Dress” requires a ball of yarn and a bottle of blue dye.
Overall, the more resources and crops players collect, the more requests they’ll be able to complete and the more items they’ll be able to unlock for their island, allowing them to create a world that suits their tastes.
Many of the game’s tasks, like crafting items and growing crops, take time to complete, but players aren’t required to wait around while a project is being worked on. Instead, they can freely explore the island and schedule multiple projects to complete and crops to grow at the same time to make the most of their time in this world.
Pretty Princess Magical Garden Island is now available on Switch for $39.99. The game is rated E for Everyone by the ESRB, meaning it’s appropriate for players of all ages. The game doesn’t feature voice acting, so players will need to know how to read to follow along with the game’s story and tutorials, or play alongside someone who can read the on-screen text out loud.
