As spotted by Serebii.net, Niantic, the developer of Pokemon Go, revealed details about a Water Festival: Beach Event that’s coming to Pokemon Go.
The Water Festival: Beach Event will run from June 6, 2023 at 10 a.m. local time until June 12, 2023 at 8 p.m. local time.
Once this event begins, players will be able to collect Sandygast and Palossand in Pokemon Go. Players will be able to evolve Sandygast into Palossand using 50 Sandygast Candy.
In addition, once this event begins, Shiny Clauncher will become available in Pokemon Go.
During the Water Festival: Beach Event, Tentacool, Shellder, Krabby, Alolan Exeggutor, Horsea, Staryu, Marill, Wingull, Wailmer, Spheal, Finneon, Dwebble, Frillish, and Clauncher will appear more frequently than normal in the wild. Mantine and Popplio will also have the chance to appear in the wild, though the Pokemon Go website indicated they’ll be rarer than the other featured Pokemon.
Players will be able to complete event-themed Field Research tasks during this event to receive encounters with Lapras wearing a scarf, Frillish, Binacle, Clauncher, and Sandygast. Players will also be able to complete event-themed Field Research tasks to earn Mega Energy for Blastoise and Swampert.
A variety of Pokemon will appear in Raids during this event:
During this event, Rainy Lure Modules will remain active for four times the normal duration.
In addition, a Global Challenge will be active during this event, which will challenge players to perform “Nice” throws. If players complete 300 million “Nice” Throws after this event begins, two in-game bonuses will be activated for the rest of this event:
A special Spotlight Hour event will take place during the Water Festival: Beach Week event. This Spotlight Hour will take place on June 6, 2023 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. local time. During this Spotlight Hour event, Krabby, Kabuto, Corphish, Clauncher, and Crabrawler will appear more frequently than normal in the wild, and players will receive three times the normal number of experience points when catching Pokemon.
Elsewhere, players will have the option to spend $5 to receive Timed Research tasks during this event. Players can complete these tasks to earn encounters with event-themed Pokemon and a surfer pose for their in-game avatar. Players will have until June 12 at 8 p.m. local time to complete these tasks.
Finally, once this event begins, three new avatar items will be released in the in-game store, and they’ll remain available after this event ends:
