Pokemon Go: Watch Out for Shiny Rowlet During January 2024 Community Day

As spotted by Serebii.net, Niantic, the developer of Pokemon Go, revealed details about the January 2024 Pokemon Go Community Day event.

The January 2024 Pokemon Go Community Day event will take place on January 6, 2024 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. local time.

During this event, Rowlet will appear more frequently than normal in the wild and players will have the chance to encounter Shiny Rowlet.

Rowlet is a Grass- and Flying-type Pokemon from the seventh generation of the Pokemon universe. In Pokemon Go, you can evolve Rowlet into Dartrix using 25 Rowlet Candy, and then evolve Dartrix into Decidueye using 100 Rowlet Candy.

Each time players evolve Dartrix into Decidueye during this event or during the five hours immediately following it, Decidueye will learn the move Frenzy Plant.

A variety of in-game bonuses will be available from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. local time on January 6, 2024:

• Players will receive three times the normal amount of Stardust when catching Pokemon.
• Players will receive two times the normal number of Pokemon Candy when catching Pokemon.
• There will be twice the normal chance for players who have reached at least Level 31 in Pokemon Go to receive Candy XL when catching Pokemon.
• Lure Modules will remain active for three hours when activated during this event.
• Incense will remain active for three hours when activated during this event.
• Players will be able to take Snapshots of Pokemon to receive extra Rowlet encounters.

Two additional bonuses will be active from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. local time on January 6, 2024:

• Players will be able to make one additional Special Trade.
• Trades will cost 50 percent less Stardust to perform.

Players will be able to complete event-themed Field Research tasks during this Community Day event to receive rewards including encounters with Rowlet and more. Players will also be able to enter Pokemon in Showcases at PokeStops during this event.

Players will be able to collect event-themed stickers during this event by opening Gifts, spinning the Photo Disc at PokeStops, and purchasing them from the in-game store.

Players will also have the option to spend $1 on a ticket that will give them access to a Special Research storyline on Community Day called “Rowlet Community Day.” Players will have the option to purchase this ticket for themselves, and they’ll also have the option to purchase the ticket for their in-game friends.

Finally, players will have the option to purchase two Community Day item bundles in the game’s store during this event. They’ll also have the option to purchase a Community Day Box on the Pokemon Go Web Store.

Once this Community Day event ends, Dartrix will appear in Tier-4 Raids from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. local time. When players defeat Dartrix in one of these Raids, Rowlet will appear near the Gym where the Raid took place for 30 minutes. You can learn more about these Dartrix Raids on the Pokemon Go website.
