The event is themed after the upcoming Nintendo Switch games.
Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Pokemon Shining Pearl will be released on Nintendo Switch on November 19. To celebrate, Pokemon Go will host an event inspired by the two games. (You can learn more about Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl in our previous coverage.)
Pokemon Go’s Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Pokemon Shining Pearl celebration event will run from November 16 at 10 a.m. local time until November 21 at 8 p.m. local time.
This event will be split into two portions, with one being inspired by Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and the other being inspired by Pokemon Shining Pearl. A few features will also be available throughout the entire event. Here’s the breakdown!
Throughout the entire Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Pokemon Shining Pearl event, Eggs will hatch after walking half of the normal required distance when placed in a regular Incubator during the event, and after walking a third of the normal required distance when placed into a Super Incubator during the event.
Players will also be able to collect six costumed Pokemon: Turtwig, Chimchar, and Piplup that are all wearing Lucas’ hat and Turtwig, Chimchar, and Piplup that are all wearing Dawn’s hat. All six of these Pokemon will have the chance to be Shiny.
During this event, players will be able to complete a Collection Challenge that asks them to catch these six costumed Pokemon. If they complete the Collection Challenge before the event ends, they’ll receive 1,000 experience points, 3,000 Stardust, and an encounter with Froslass.
Starting on November 15 at 12 p.m. PT, three new avatar items will be available in the game’s shop: a Turtwig Costume, a Chimchar Costume, and a Piplup Costume.
In addition to these premium items, a Sinnoh-themed set of avatar items will become available for free for all players on November 15 at 12 p.m. PT. These items include things like a Sinnoh Hat and Sinnoh Pants (among others), which will allow players to dress like the trainers seen in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Pokemon Shining Pearl.
All of these premium and free avatar items will continue to be available in Pokemon Go after this event ends.
Next, players will be able to collect event-themed Stickers by opening Gifts, spinning the Photo Discs at PokeStops, and/or purchasing them in the game’s store.
Finally, players will be able to collect a free Event Box from the game’s store containing 20 Poke Balls and one Sinnoh Stone. They’ll also have the option to spend 300 PokeCoins on a Great Box containing three Super Incubators, two Incubators, and one Lure Module. Players who choose to purchase this Great Box can only purchase the box once.
