Pokemon Go Distracted by Something Shiny Research Tasks Guide

Trainers, the Secrets of the Jungle event has officially kicked off in Pokemon Go!

Inspired by Pokemon the Movie: Secrets of the Jungle, this event will allow players to complete a new series of Special Research tasks called “Distracted by Something Shiny,” which will reward them with a variety of items, including an encounter with Shiny Celebi! There are four parts in the Distracted by Something Shiny Special Research storyline. Each part has three tasks to complete.

According to The Silph Road subreddit, here’s what these tasks ask you to do, and the prizes you’ll receive for completing them.

Distracted by Something Shiny Part 1

• Transfer 10 Pokemon – 20 Ultra Balls
• Catch 10 Grass-Type Pokemon – An encounter with Nuzleaf
• Evolve 3 Grass-Type Pokemon – An encounter with Cottonee

Final Rewards: 500 Stardust, 1,000 experience points, and an encounter with Diglett when all three tasks are completed

Distracted by Something Shiny Part 2

• Play With Your Buddy 10 Times – 1 Poffin
• Take a Snapshot of a Grass-Type Pokemon – An encounter with Combee
• Give Your Buddy 10 Treats – An encounter with Cherubi

Final Rewards: 500 Stardust, 1,000 experience points, and an encounter with Pinsir when all three tasks are completed

Distracted by Something Shiny Part 3

• Defeat Jessie or James 4 Times – 5 Max Revives
• Make 5 Great Curveball Throws – An encounter with Hoothoot
• Hatch 3 Eggs – An encounter with Whimsicott

Final Rewards: 500 Stardust, 1,000 experience points, and an encounter with Vibrava when all three tasks are completed

Distracted by Something Shiny Part 4

• Automatically Completed Task – An encounter with Oddish
• Automatically Completed Task – An encounter with Foongus
• Automatically Completed Task – 500 Experience Points

Final Rewards: 500 Stardust, 1,000 experience points, and an encounter with Shiny Celebi when all three tasks are completed
