Players can participate in a Global Challenge for the chance to unlock additional in-game bonuses that everyone can access.
The 2024 Lunar New Year event is coming soon to Pokemon Go!
The 2024 Lunar New Year event will run from February 5, 2024 at 10 a.m. local time until February 11, 2024 at 8 p.m. local time.
Once this event begins, Drampa and Shiny Drampa will become available to collect in Pokemon Go.
During this event, Magikarp, Dratini, Shuckle, Fennekin, Skrelp, and Noibat will appear more frequently than normal in the wild. Jangmo-o will also have the chance to appear in the wild during this event, though the Pokemon Go website indicated it will be rarer than the other featured Pokemon.

Players will be able to complete event-themed Field Research tasks during this event to receive encounters with Dratini, Trapinch, Swablu, Gible, Darumaka, Druddigon, Deino, Skrelp, Tyrunt, Goomy, Turtonator, and Drampa.
Players will also have the option to spend $2 to receive Timed Research tasks during this event. If players complete these Timed Research tasks before time runs out, they’ll receive Stardust, experience points, two Lucky Eggs, and encounters with event-themed Pokemon.
Finally, once this event begins, the Dragons Unleashed Global Challenge will also kick off in Pokemon Go. This Global Challenge will ask players to throw one billion Nice throws to unlock additional in-game bonuses that will be available throughout the remainder of the 2024 Lunar New Year event.
