In its latest Nintendo Direct video presentation, Nintendo showed off a slew of family-friendly games that are coming to Nintendo Switch in 2023 and 2024.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder – Super Mario Bros. Wonder is the latest side-scrolling platformer in the Super Mario franchise. The game will allow up to four players to complete levels together. Players will be able to collect new Wonder Flowers to transform their current environment in a variety of ways. Plus, a new power-up will allow Mario to become Elephant Mario. Super Mario Bros. Wonder will be released on Switch on October 20, 2023.
Super Mario RPG – Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars was originally released on Super Nintendo way back in 1996. Now, the role-playing game is being remade for Switch with updated graphics. According to a Nintendo press release, in Super Mario RPG, “Mario must team up with his allies to face down a menacing force known as the Smithy Gang in order to recover seven stars and repair the Star Road.” Super Mario RPG will be released on Switch on November 17, 2023.
Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon Remake – Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon was originally released on Nintendo 3DS in 2013. In 2024, a Switch version of the game will be released with updated graphics.
New Princess Peach Game – Nintendo announced a new game starring Princess Peach from the Mario universe will be released in 2024. Additional details about this new game will be revealed in the future.
Pikmin 4 – The Nintendo Direct featured a trailer for Pikmin 4, showing fans what they can expect when the game launches on Switch on July 21, 2023. For instance, for the first time in the Pikmin franchise, players will be able to explore environments at night. They’ll also be able to befriend a new kind of Pikmin called “Glow” Pikmin.
Pikmin 1 and Pikmin 2 – Pikmin 1 and Pikmin 2 were released on Nintendo GameCube in 2001 and 2004, respectively. HD versions of these games will be released on the Nintendo eShop on Nintendo Switch on June 21, 2023. Players will be able to purchase the games individually or in a bundle for a reduced price. A physical version containing both games will be released on September 22, 2023.
Detective Pikachu Returns – The original Detective Pikachu video game was released on Nintendo 3DS in North America in 2018. Detective Pikachu Returns is the next installment in the series, which will see Tim Goodman solve cases alongside his talking Pikachu partner, Detective Pikachu. Detective Pikachu Returns will be released on Switch on October 6, 2023.
WarioWare: Move It! – The next installment in the WarioWare franchise of “microgame” titles will feature motion-controlled games that will ask players to move their bodies in various ways in the real-world as they hold a Joy-Con controller in each hand. The game will feature over 200 microgames. It will also feature a “Party Mode” that will allow up to four people in the same room to play together (each player will need their own Joy-Con). WarioWare: Move It will be released on Switch on November 3, 2023.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – Booster Course Pass Wave 5 – The next wave in the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – Booster Course Pass downloadable content (DLC) will be released in summer 2023. It will feature a new race course called Squeaky Clean Spirit. It will also include three new playable characters: Petey Piranha, Wiggler, and Kamek. The Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – Booster Course Pass DLC can be purchased on its own for $24.99. It’s also available at no additional cost to those who have a Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscription. The final wave of the Booster Course Pass DLC will be released before the end of 2023.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom amiibo – amiibo figures inspired by Zelda and Ganondorf from The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will be released during the 2023 holiday season. When players activate these amiibo in Tears of the Kingdom, they’ll receive in-game items.
