This major update includes sniffers, camels, and more.
The next major update for Minecraft will be released on June 7, 2023. Called Trails & Tales, the update will add new mobs, blocks, and more to the game.
Here are some of the major items included in the Trails & Tales update:
Archaeology – Players will be able to find “suspicious sand” in desert temple rooms, as well as “suspicious gravel” in ocean ruins and trail ruins. Trail ruins are new structures that can be found in cold biomes. Players will be able to interact with these areas to find tools, bones, sniffer eggs, and pottery sherds. Players will be able to craft four pottery sherds into a complete pot featuring a pattern design.
Sniffers – Players will be able to hatch sniffer eggs to receive friendly baby snifflets, which will grow into sniffers. Sniffers will be able to find ancient seeds for players, and players will be able to grow these seeds into new torchflowers and pitcher plants.
Camels – Players will be able to find and tame camels. A single camel will be able to hold two riders.
Cherry Groves – Players will be able to find cherry trees as they explore their in-game worlds. Players will be able to collect material from these trees and use it to create a complete pink wood set.
Armor Trims – Players will be able to find smithing template patterns and combine these templates with different materials to create 16 new armor trims for their in-game armor.
Bamboo Wood – Players will be able to craft bamboo into a complete set of bamboo wood blocks.
Bamboo Rafts – Players will be able to use bamboo rafts to move along the surface of the water.
Piglin Heads – Players will be able to collect Piglin heads, which are dropped when a Piglin is killed by a charged creeper.
Chiseled Bookshelves – According to the Minecraft website, players will be able to write their own stories and store them inside chiseled bookshelves. These bookshelves will also be able to store quills and enchanted books.
Sign Updates – Players will be able to create hanging signs and use them to decorate their in-game worlds. Following this update, players will also be able to write on both sides of a sign and edit the text they’ve written without destroying the sign first. Players will be able to “wax” a sign with honeycomb to prevent the sign’s text from being edited.
Aside from this update, Minecraft: Bedrock Edition will also be released on Chromebook on June 7, 2023. The game was previously available in “Early Access” on select Chromebook devices, but with this launch, Minecraft will be available in the Google Play Store for everyone with a compatible Chromebook device.
