Players will be able to collect more than 100 vehicles at launch.
Mattel and game developer Milestone revealed Hot Wheels Unleashed 2: Turbocharged, the sequel to the original Hot Wheels Unleashed video game that was released in 2021.
Hot Wheels Unleashed 2: Turbocharged is an arcade racing game that will combine familiar elements from the first game with new gameplay modes, racing features, and more. (You can learn more about the original Hot Wheels Unleashed video game in our review.)
Hot Wheels Unleashed 2: Turbocharged will have 130 vehicles to collect at launch, including two new types of vehicles: motorcycles and ATVs. According to a press release, the game will feature five different racing environments, with each having “unique racing surfaces” that will affect the way vehicles perform.
The “boost” and “drift” driving mechanics from the first Hot Wheels Unleashed will return in this sequel, and two new driving abilities will also be available: “dash” and “jump.” Players will be able to dash into other vehicles and jump at any time as they try to win each event.
Hot Wheels Unleashed 2: Turbocharged will have multiple gameplay modes, including a story mode that will introduce players to four original characters. The game will also feature multiplayer races, two-player split-screen races for players in the same room, and more.
Finally, the game will feature a Track Editor and a Livery Editor that will allow players to create their own in-game content. Players will also have the option to share the content they create with other players online.
The Track Editor will allow players to create their own race tracks, while the Livery Editor will allow players to customize the look of the game’s vehicles. For this sequel, the Livery Editor will feature a new Sticker Editor that will allow players to “create, save, and share original patterns and shapes.”
Hot Wheels Unleashed 2: Turbocharged will be released on Switch, PlayStation consoles, Xbox consoles, and PC on October 19, 2023. The game will feature cross-platform gameplay, allowing players to play with others on different platforms. Cross-platform gameplay won’t be available on Nintendo Switch.
Hot Wheels Unleashed 2: Turbocharged has yet to be rated by the ESRB, but the game will be family-friendly.
