This free-to-play mobile game lets you compete in real-time races with players around the world.
Hot Wheels Infinite Loop is the latest mobile game based on the popular Hot Wheels diecast vehicles. The free-to-play game takes players a few decades into the future. Technology has allowed humans to create life-size Hot Wheels vehicles that can race in a new kind of motosport: Hot Wheels Infinite Loop.
Players start with a single Hot Wheels vehicle in their collection, but they can collect many more as they progress. During each race or event, their vehicle will accelerate automatically, and players can steer by pressing buttons on the left and right sides of the screen. A drift button on the left side of the screen lets players drift around tight corners, and a nitro button on the right side of the screen allows players to spend any nitrous they’ve collected while racing to receive a temporary speed boost.
While the game’s tracks are set in some real-world locations, like Times Square in New York City, they’ve been updated with orange Hot Wheels track pieces that enable players to drive off of huge ramps and even go through loops. The game is similar to the Burnout series of racing video games, in that players are encouraged to ram into other vehicles to eliminate them or refill their nitro gauge.
Each event has a different objective to complete. For instance, one event may be a traditional race (come in first place by any means necessary), while another may be a team event, challenging players on both teams to drive through checkpoints to add time to their clock, with the team that runs out of time first losing.
As players complete events, they’ll receive mystery chests that take time to open. You can also skip the wait instantly using premium currency. These chests can contain a variety of in-game goodies, such as currency and “parts” that go toward unlocking additional vehicles.
Different vehicles have different stats, and as players collect duplicate vehicle parts in bulk, they can upgrade their vehicles to improve their stats.
In addition to competing in standard League events, the game features multiple limited time Challenge events that ask players to complete specific objectives to receive a variety of prizes, including car parts. Players need to spend tickets to enter these events, with tickets recharging automatically over time. Tickets are also available to purchase in the store using premium currency.
Finally, players can purchase premium content bundles in the in-game store (containing items like cars and currency), as well as subscribe to a premium “Infinite VIP Club” to receive a variety of “permanent” bonuses, so long as you keep your subscription active. A single month costs $10.99, or a year can be purchased in a single transaction for $99.99.
Hot Wheels Infinite Loop is available to download for free on iOS and Android devices. The game is rated 9+ on iOS and E for Everyone on Android. While the game does allow you to race against other real players, every player is automatically assigned a username to prevent kids from sharing private information.
