Fortnite developer Epic has been taking cheaters to court, Overwatch releases a new character skin for charity, and Google Assistant wants to teach your kids some manners.
Here’s the latest from the worlds of video games and tech, from Fortnite cheaters to a charity Overwatch skin.
The Curious Case of the Fortnite Cheater
Cheating in video games may seem harmless, but Fortnite’s developer, Epic, has taken multiple people to court for creating and sharing Fortnite cheats. Parents, this is a great time to remind your kids that cheating has real consequences, even if “everybody’s doing it.”
Overwatch Launches New Character Costume for Charity
For a limited time, players of the popular multiplayer game can purchase a pink skin (costume) for the healing character Mercy, with all proceeds going to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
Google Assistant’s ‘Pretty Please’ Mode Will Encourage Kids to Be Polite
Later this year, parents who own a smart speaker or device that contains Google’s AI assistant (like a Google Home) will be able to turn on a “Pretty Please” mode that encourages kids to say “please” when making requests. This is similar to the “Magic Word” feature in the Amazon Echo Dot Kids Edition.
