Pokemon Go Rayquaza Raids Coming Soon

Mark your calendars for this special Raid weekend.

Mark your calendars, trainers. An extremely limited-time Raid event is coming soon to Pokemon Go, giving players another chance to capture the Legendary Pokemon Rayquaza.

Rayquaza is a Dragon- and Flying-type Legendary Pokemon from Generation III of the Pokemon universe. It was pictured on the box art for Pokemon Emerald, which was released on Game Boy Advance in 2005 in North America.

Rayquaza first appeared in Pokemon Go Raid Battles in February 2018. It was only available for a short time (until the middle of March 2018), but now, anyone who missed out on its first appearance will have another (very brief) chance to add it to their collection.

From Friday, March 15 at 4 p.m. ET to Monday, March 18 at 4 p.m. ET, Rayquaza will once again appear in Raid battles. Players will be able to find these Raid battles at Pokemon Gyms near them, but they’ll likely need to team up with a group of other players in order to defeat Rayquaza during each timed battle. If players successfully defeat Rayquaza before time runs out, they’ll have the chance to capture this powerful creature.

Thankfully, players can compete in more than one Raid battle during this special weekend event, so even if they fail to capture Rayquaza once, they can always try again.

This event is similar to February’s Latias Raid weekend. Latias’ time in the game was extended from a weekend to a full week, so we’ll be sure to let you know if Rayquaza’s appearance is extended as well.

If you’re looking for strategies on how to beat Rayquaza, we suggest reading the Rayquaza Counters Guide on Pokemon Go Hub.
