Different Pokemon will appear in different parts of the world.

To celebrate the upcoming solstice on June 20, Pokemon Go is hosting a limited-time Solstice Event that will allow players to battle Regigigas, as well as encounter Pokemon like Lunatone and Solrock, among others.

The 2021 Solstice Event will run from June 17 at 10 a.m. local time until June 20 at 8 p.m. local time.

During this event, players will be able to encounter Lunatone, Solrock, Spheal, and other pocket monsters in the wild. In a news post, Niantic, the developer of Pokemon Go, said Snorlax will also have the chance to appear in the wild, though it will be rare.

Players will receive gift items and Poke Balls from their Buddy Pokemon more frequently than normal during this event, and the walking distance to earn hearts with your Buddy Pokemon will be cut in half.

While Pokemon like Lunatone and Solrock will be available to encounter around the world during this event, some pocket monsters will only be available to encounter in certain hemispheres.

Specifically, during this Solstice Event, players in the northern hemisphere will be able to encounter Pokmeon like Yanma, Chimchar, and the Summer Form of Deerling more frequently than normal in the wild. Players in the southern hemisphere will be able to encounter pocket monsters like Snorunt, Snover, and the Winter Form of Deerling more frequently than normal in the wild.

Plus, Alolan Marowak, Yanma, Petitil, and more will appear in Raids in the northern hemisphere during this event, while Lapras, Piloswine, Snorunt, and more will appear in Raids in the southern hemisphere. Finally, Lunatone, Solrock, Klink, and more will appear in Raids around the world during this event.

During this Solstice Event, players in the northern hemisphere will be able to complete event-themed Field Research tasks to earn encounters with Yanma, while players in the southern hemisphere can complete these tasks to earn encounters with Snorunt. Some Field Research tasks will also reward players with Silver Pinap Berries.

Once this Solstice Event ends, Lunatone will begin appearing exclusively in the eastern hemisphere, while Solrock will only appear in the western hemisphere.

Finally, Regigigas will appear in Tier-5 Raids from June 17 at 10 a.m. local time until July 1 at 10 a.m. local time, and there will be the chance for Regigigas to be Shiny. During this time frame, players will also be able to collect Field Research tasks related to Raids.
