Animal Crossing New Horizons: How to Use the Island Tour Creator
Show off your island in custom posters and trailers!
Nintendo launched a new service for Animal Crossing: New Horizons players called the Island Tour Creator. This website allows players to create posters and trailers for their islands using the screenshots and video clips they’ve captured while playing New Horizons on Nintendo Switch.
Here’s everything you need to know about using the Island Tour Creator!
The Island Tour Creator allows you to upload screenshots and video clips that are saved to your smartphone, as well as ones that you’ve uploaded to Twitter. To access the content you’ve shared to Twitter, you’ll need to link the Island Tour Creator website to your Twitter account. The Island Tour Creator will allow you to select media from your 1,000 most recent tweets, so if the content you’re looking for is older than that, you’ll either need to make sure it’s saved to your device and upload it manually or tweet it again so the content is newer.
To send videos and screenshots from your Switch to your smartphone, open your album on the Switch, select the content you wish to send, and choose “Send to Smartphone.” Then, follow the on-screen instructions. Check out Nintendo’s support website for more information about moving media from your Switch to your smart device.
You can access the Island Tour Creator by visiting this website. The website is meant to be used on a smartphone, so if you load it on a web browser, you won’t be able to access its services. However, you will see a QR code you can scan with your smartphone’s camera to open the website there.
Once you open the website, you’ll need to sign in with your Nintendo account.
After you’ve signed in, Tom Nook will introduce you to the Island Tour Creator service, and you’ll be able to choose whether you want to create a poster or a trailer.
When creating a poster, you’ll be able to enter the name of your island and then upload a screenshot. You can customize the look of your poster with a photo frame and a tagline, and you’ll also have the option of adding your Dream Address so that players who view the poster can visit your island.
Once your poster is ready, you can download the image to your device or instantly share it to Twitter.
When creating a trailer, you’ll enter the name of your island and then choose up to three “features” that you want to show off, such as your animal neighbors, an in-game event, or the museum. From there, you can upload up to three screenshots or a single video clip for each feature you selected. Your finished trailer will have a voiceover that talks about the feature(s) you selected, as though it were a real promotional travel video!
After your photos and/or videos are uploaded, you’ll be able to choose a thumbnail for your trailer, add a tagline, and enter your Dream Address, if you want to share it.
Nintendo said the website may take 5-10 minutes to process your content into the finished trailer, but this can vary depending on how busy the website is at the moment. You'll have the option to send the trailer’s URL to yourself in an email so that you can check its status later (you can also copy the URL to your device’s clipboard to share it elsewhere).
Once a trailer has been created, it will be deleted automatically from the Island Tour Creator service after 48 hours, so you’ll need to download it from the service before that happens! Once you download your trailer, you can share it wherever you’d like!
As of this writing, the Island Tour Creator website is scheduled to be available until December 31, 2021.
