Lego Is Making a Building Set Inspired by Sonic the Hedgehog
There's no release date just yet.
Lego Ideas and Sega have partnered to create a Lego set inspired by Sonic the Hedgehog.
The idea for the set was submitted to the Lego Ideas platform by 24 year old Lego and Sonic fan Viv Grannell. The Lego Ideas platform allows fans to submit their ideas for a chance to see them turned into real-world Lego sets.
Grannell’s idea was inspired by 2017’s Sonic Mania, and features elements from the game’s Green Hill Zone stage. You can see the concept design for the set above.
When an idea is submitted to the Lego Ideas platform, it must receive 10,000 supporting votes from Lego fans around the world before it has the chance to be produced for sale. Grannell’s idea hit this requirement, and the set is now going into the product development phase.
In a press release, Jason Rice, director of brand licensing at Sega Europe, commented on this new Sonic Lego set:
“At SEGA, we’ve always encouraged fans to take part in the legacy of the Sonic franchise through their own creations and it’s wonderful to see the tradition continued through the LEGO Ideas® program. We’re thrilled to partner with Viv and the LEGO Group, and hope to inspire fans to continue creating their own unique Sonic the Hedgehog™ experiences for generations to come.”
As of this writing, no release date or pricing information has been announced for the Sonic the Hedgehog Lego set. Keep checking back with SuperParent, as we’ll bring you more details about this set as soon as they’re revealed.
