RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 Complete Edition on Switch: SuperParent First Look

The classic amusement park management game comes to a new platform.

RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 was originally released on PC in 2004. Now 16 years later, the Complete Edition of the game (which includes its two DLC packs -- Soaked and Wild) is coming to Switch and PC with updated graphics and "optimised controls."

In RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 Complete Edition, you’ll be able to build and manage theme parks, water parks, and zoos on their own, or combine elements from all three to form the ultimate tourist destination. You’ll need to manage your park’s finances and staff, as well as choose where to place everything from rides and shops to benches, garbage cans, fences, and more in order to create a place your guests will love to visit. You can also choose where to place pre-built roller coasters, or create your own roller coasters from scratch, one track piece at a time.

RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 features multiple modes. The Career Mode challenges you to complete themed scenarios that have a variety of goals to shoot for. For instance, the first scenario, Vanilla Hills, asks you to have 400 guests in your park at once, increase the park’s value to at least $20,000, and so on.

If you want a more relaxed experience, you can play in Sandbox Mode, which gives you unlimited money and a plot of (basically empty) flat land that you can customize however you want.

On Switch, the game’s menus are placed in two radial (circular) menus that are situated in the bottom-left and bottom-right corners of the screen. You’re introduced to these controls by tutorials that appear as you begin the first scenario.

Check out our gameplay video below to see how the game’s controls are handled on Switch.

RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 Complete Edition is scheduled to be released on September 24 on Switch and PC. The game is rated E for Everyone by the ESRB.
